My Story

I have been a Registered Nurse for nearly 20 years in the NHS and privately in both hospital and community settings. Over the years I have mainly worked in Intensive Care but also have a lot of ward experience all over the UK and in Australia and worked for 7 years in the Nottingham community as a Health Visitor caring for new parents and their babies and all there health and social needs. I decided to start Hear 2 Help Notts providing mobile ear wax removal, hearing screening and ear health checks to the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire community after noticing that a lot of patients I was meeting in the hospital were having issues with their hearing which then had a knock on effect to their mental health, emotional health and often led to them becoming isolated and at times confused not to mention the other implications such as dizziness which can lead to many people having falls and the high risk factor and links between hearing loss and dementia. After discovering that many GP's in the area were no longer offering ear syringing or irrigation as a service for NHS patients or if they do the horrendously long waiting times to get booked in, I wanted to be able to fill that gap and offer a much needed but overlooked service, as I believed our hearing is just as important as any other of our senses such as eye sight and thought that it would be even better to extend my reach and offer it as a mobile service which therefore meant that patients who may find it difficult to travel or get out of the house for whatever reason did not have to suffer anymore as I would travel to them and as a result Hear 2 Help Notts was created.
